The divorce rate always seems to increase. Florida is a no-fault divorce state, which means that if you wish to end your marriage, you don’t have to specify a reason for it. There are many reasons why someone will opt to end their marriage.

Cheating

One of the biggest reasons why people decide to get divorced is that their spouse has been cheating on them. There’s nothing more horrifying than discovering that the person you exchanged vows with has violated your trust and the sanctity of your relationship by carrying on an extramarital affair. Cheating is a major cause of broken trust in any relationship and can destroy a marriage.

Financial issues

Money is a major cause for divorce. Although many marriage vows include the line, “For richer or poorer,” disputes about finances can significantly damage the relationship. This might be due to one person racking up too much debt or being stingy with money with their spouse. Too many fights about finances can erode away at the relationship to the point where one spouse just wants to be free.

Domestic violence

Domestic violence is a huge reason to seek a divorce. If your spouse is abusing you physically, mentally, emotionally, verbally, sexually or in any other way, it means they do not respect you. Your first priority should be getting yourself and your children to safety and ending the marriage once and for all.

Falling out of love or lack of intimacy

Sometimes, people end up falling out of love. This is a legitimate reason to seek a divorce. One spouse might realize that what they thought was love was only infatuation or lust and not actual love. Lack of intimacy is another reason why people seek a divorce.

Continuous conflict

When a married couple has constant conflicts, it can damage their relationship. If going to couples counseling doesn’t help, they might want to seek a divorce. Over time, too many conflicts can lead to irreconcilable differences.

These are some common reasons to seek a divorce. If you and your spouse realize your marriage isn’t salvageable, it might be the only option.
